The year 2008 is finally coming to a close, the countdown to the very last few hours of the year has begun and soon we will be bidding 2008 adieu. It was, by and large, a terrific year for most of us.

What A Year In 2008.

Tags:

2008 the Year of the Rat, could be tagged as the worst year to many of us. From hindsight, it was a year of wild roller coaster ride through wide ranging change - issues from politics to bursting of the housing bubble, global stock markets tumbling, banks collapsing and we are now watching the  world struggling to cope with the worst financial meltdown since the Great Depression.

"Don't Quit."

Tags:
@ 03:42 PM (10 months, 27 days ago)

'Don't Quit'

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you are trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest if you must - but don't quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As sooner, or later everyone learns,

And many a failure turns about

When he might have won had he stuck it out;

Don't give up when the pace seems slow -

You might succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than

it seems to a faint and faltering man,

Often the struggler has given up

When he might have capture the victor's cup.

And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,

How close he was to the Golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -

The silver tints of the cloud of doubt -

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near and it might be far;

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -

It's when things seems worse that you mustn't quit.

Sneezes Can Lead To .....

Tags:
@ 06:59 PM (10 months, 28 days ago)

Beware, a bout of sneezes could probably be a sign that someone is attracted to you! Although this may not sound as the most promising start to a romance. A team of doctors had recently uncovered a bizzare medical condition where people sneeze every time they think about sex or having an orgasm. This condition appears to afflict both men and women and is uncontrollable.

Looking Back.........

Tags:
@ 04:06 PM (10 months, 29 days ago)

I was involed in some spring cleaning last weekend when I found a photo album that has been missing for years, hidden behind one of my bookshelves. By the time I completed my tasks for the day, it was already late at night. Knowing very well that I will not be disturbed by any unnecessary interference, I took out that old photo album, opened it up and took a good look at those photographs one at a time.

Dogs Always Play Fair.

Tags:
@ 04:40 PM (11 months, 20 hours ago)

Ask a dog to do a trick and they will give a try. For a reward, say sausage, they will happily keep at it. But if one dog gets no rewards for doing the same trick, just try to get the first one to do it again, he may even turn away and refuse to look at you. Dogs like people and monkeys seems to have a sense of fairness. Animals reacts to inequality. So to avoid stress in them, we should avoid try to avoid treating them differently.

Having Fun With Laughter Yoga.

Tags:
@ 08:32 PM (11 months, 2 days ago)

With the current economic woes being felt all over the world, the going has got very tough, the tough are no longer shopping. They are laughing. Not just any old laughter, but laughter yoga, a form of exercise that blends bold belly laughs and noisy meditation with rhythmic clapping, waddling around like a penguin or taking part in a conga line and deep yogic breathing. In short, laughter yoga is a unique exercise that combines laughter with yogic breathing - when we laugh, we exhale and automatically take a deep inhale afterwards, which is where the yogic breathing comes in.

Bosses Boss Bossed.

Tags:
@ 03:59 PM (11 months, 3 days ago)

Bosses are human and are often afflicted to stress, frustration and work pressures. In the process they take it out on those nearest them. Like everyone else, they do carry with them a baggage from the past. Their life experiences, failures and  difficulties encountered, influence their behaviour and how they communicate with others. It is believed that managers who lack self-esteem, confidence or have an inferiority complex usually are prime candidates to becoming an employee's nightmare. Very often, the problem of difficult bosses stem from those managers having poor communication or people management skills.

The Rhythm Of Ease And Effort.

Tags:
@ 02:18 PM (11 months, 6 days ago)

I mentioned very briefly about the goal in seeking the expending of effort is to have it become effortless yesterday. As a ballerina dances on her toes, her beauty and grace shows through because of the endless hours of pratice she puts in. Again, for Luciano Pavarotti to sing with his voice totally relaxed, he had to train every part of his body to handle the exertion that allows his voice to be relaxed. You have to become strong in order to relax and to surrender to life's challenges. Grace and relaxation are supported by great strength. The secret of success that guides the mastery of world class singers, runners or dancers stems from this simple principle that leads to a superior person in any endeavour.

Let The Water Boil.

Tags:
@ 03:56 PM (11 months, 7 days ago)

In order for us to boil water, you will have to pour water into a kettle and then place the kettle over a fire. These actions all involve expending energy. When you close the lid of the kettle, you let the water boil. If you become too anxious about the result and keep openning the lid, you hinder the process of heating up the water, and delay the water from boiling.

The 'Integrity' Factor.

Tags:

In my post on the 4th instant, I briefly mentioned about the landslide which resulted in a loss of lives and so forth. An allegation involving the search and rescue operations team is much talked about in town. It is said that the operations team had failed to respond positively when a man sought their help to save his wife. Instead, the man was given a hoe and was asked to dig and find his wife on his own. Whatever it is, the truth may only remain known to that man and the parties involved. However, some years back, when many parts of Johore were flooded, there were also allegations that our search and rescue operations team asked for money from the victims before they were saved.

With the westerly wind blowing in, many businesses are already feeling the effects. Next year is anticipated to be an extremely tough and challenging year for us.
