There are no shortcuts when it comes to getting a promotion. Unless you are prepared to work for it, your chances of getting that corner room with the view is very slim indeed. Hard work is only half the battle won because you will never achieve your full potential unless you position yourself so that others wll become aware of your expertise and accomplishments. Therefore, you need to get noticed for the good work you are doing before a promotion can happen. Here are some tips to put you in the spotlight.
Be Proactive - Show initiative at work. Show your interest in the company by actively participating in office discussions and sharing your ideas when you have something valuable to add. The key word here is 'valuable.' Never speak up for the sole reason to be heard.
Take The Lead - Look for opportunities to take the lead on new assignments. But, make sure you are fully equipped it the necessary skills and time to take on the project or the plan will backfire and make you look really bad instead.
